Police Recordings Give Insight Into Officer Involved Shooting
Police said officers Weslee Farley and Christopher Mason were on patrol near Legacy Trail when they came upon a suspected drug deal between two vehicles in the parking lot of Berea Christian Church near the intersection of Berea Road and Iron Works Pike.
The officers involved said one vehicle got away but the other driven by Joseph Kilburn was trying to hit them. That’s when officers said they shot him.
Scanner recordings started with what sounds like an officer yelling for Kilburn to "stop!" After that, the sounds ranged from the initial call for shots fired to the call for emergency responders for Kilburn’s gunshot wound to the head.
Recently, ABC 36 News learned Kilburn was readmitted to the hospital Wednesday in what the hospital referred to as critical condition. UK told us Kilburn was upgraded to serious condition Thursday and fair, Friday.
Officers Mason and Farley are on administrative leave.
