Police officer injured in shooting at Louisville home

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – A police officer and a suspect in Louisville have been wounded in a shooting at a home in the Shively area.

Louisville police say the Shively Police officer was at a home on Eden Lane around 11 a.m. EST when a male suspect in the home opened fire, striking the officer. The officer returned fire, hitting and injuring the suspect.

Sgt. Phil Russell, a public information officer for Louisville Police, says the extent of the officer’s injuries was not known, along with the status of the suspect. Both were rushed to University Hospital after the shooting.

News video showed ambulances rushing from the home to the hospital in the downtown area.
