Police: Man Tries To Steal Car, Stabs Owner

Lexington police arrested a man who they said stabbed another man back in February while trying to steal his car.
Justin Hager, 24, was taken into custody on Thursday.
According to court documents, on February 9th, a woman spotted Hager trying to drive away in their car that was parked on 2000 Cambridge Drive. Her husband left the car running while he went back inside to get their children.
The woman ran out and tried to stop Hager but police said he tried to hit her with the car.
The woman’s husband came out with their children and a roommate, as Hager tried to get away, according to court documents.
The car slid into a truck and became stuck because of the icy conditions.
The woman, her husband and the roommate all tried to get into the car but police said Hager locked the doors.
When he put it in park, the doors unlocked and the woman opened the driver’s door and tried to grab Hager.
Police said that’s when Hager jumped out and chased her with a knife.
When he couldn’t get her, he ran up to her husband, who was holding the children, and stabbed him twice in the side, according to documents. The roommate pulled Hager off the man and Hager ran to a car he originally drove to the scene and took off.
Police said the victims were able to quickly identify Hager because he is missing his right eye.
Hager is also charged with the theft of a woman’s cell phone back in January. Police said they tied him to that crime because the woman’s phone takes a picture of the person who has it if the wrong password is entered. The picture is then emailed to the phone’s owner. They said Hager entered the wrong password at least five times and his picture was sent to the woman.
