Police: Man tries to run over 2 people after shoplifting

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A Hopkinsville man is charged with robbery and police say he attempted to run over two people trying to stop him.

The Kentucky New Era (http://bit.ly/1dHBGy0 ) reports 46-year-old Robert Tedder took several items from a Marathon gas station Sunday morning, including six pairs of sunglasses, a tire gauge and two air fresheners. A police report says as Tedder fled, a clerk and another person tried to stop him and Tedder tried to hit them with his vehicle.

The report says Tedder was arrested at his home after getting away before police arrived.

The total value of the items stolen is $121.79.

It is unclear if Tedder has a lawyer.
