Police: Man Robbed Gas Station with 8-inch Knife

Police are investigating an early-morning robbery at a Lexington gas station Wednesday.

Police said they were called to the gas station at the corner of Versailles Road and Alexandria Drive around 4:40 a.m. after a man robbed the store with a knife.

According to officers, a clerk was inside stocking shelves when a man wearing a ski mask and sunglasses came into the store. When the clerk returned to the counter, the man showed an 8-inch knife and demanded cash.

The clerk cooperated and gave the man some cash, police said. The suspect then ran out of the store.

Police K-9 units tried to track the man but were unsuccessful.

Police said the gas station does have surveillance video and they hope to get a better description of the suspect from the video.
