Police: Jessamine Co. Teen Drowns In Kentucky River

An East Jessamine High School student drowned in the Kentucky River Wednesday afternoon, according to the Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office.

Jacob Mulcahy, 17, was swimming with friends at the John Nickell Boat Ramp, off of Sulpher Road, when the incident happened around 2 p.m., according to Chief Deputy Peele.

Peele said it’s unclear how many people were with Mulcahy when the drowning occurred. The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife is investigating.
