Police Investigating Shooting in Berea
The Madison County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a late night shooting in Berea, officials said.
Berea Police tell ABC 36 News they were called to assist the sheriff’s department in the 900 block of South Dogwood Drive for a shooting around 11:00 p.m. Tuesday.
According to officers on the scene, a man was shot and taken to University of Kentucky Hospital. They did not release the victim’s condition.
A possible suspect was taken in for questions, the sheriff’s department said.
The sheriff’s department didn’t comment on what they believe lead to the shooting, but they did tell ABC 36 News that this was not a burglary attempt.
Multiple neighbors on the block told ABC 36 News crews on the scene that the homeowner, Johnny Durham, was seen in the back of police cruiser. Police would not confirm if he was a suspect.
Sheriff’s department and Berea Police officials on the scene denied to comment further on the shooting. Updates from the Madison County Sheriff’s Department are expected Wednesday morning.
