Schools go on heightened alert after report of man with gun
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Schools on Tates Creek campus went on heightened alert Friday morning after a minor was reported to have a gun near campus.
According to Fayette County Public Schools, a juvenile, who does not attend any of the Tates Creek schools was spotted on campus, and thought to have a weapon.
When school law enforcement was notified, the district says the suspect fled. That’s when they say Lexington police were called in to help.
Lexington police found and arrested him just before 11 a.m., on an unrelated charge.
According to the district, he did not have a gun when he was arrested.
