Police investigate string of business break-ins

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Officers are investigating after another break-in at a Ken Towery tire location.

Police say this is the latest in a string of crimes reported in Lexington and surrounding areas, and that there are similarities in the method used to gain entry.  Investigators say the suspects break into the businesses by smashing a door or window with some type of hard object.

The latest break-in at Ken Towery in Lexington off of Louie Place happened Tuesday morning.  Several break-ins were reported at Todds Center off Man O’ War Boulevard and Liberty Road on Monday, including the Ken Towery there, Big B Liquor, and Miss Holly’s Barber Shop.

Georgetown police say they are also investigating a string of break-ins.  Police say alarms at the Ken Towery in Georgetown went off around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday.  They say a side window was smashed, and  the business office was ransacked.  Officers say the suspects went through the cash register, found nothing, and went out of that same window.  Police say the business next door, Georgetown Flowers was also hit.  The suspect or suspects, again, smashed the front door with a rock.

Police are looking for clues as to who is responsible for these break-ins and whether they are in anyway linked.
