Police investigate shooting on Lakeshore Drive

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington police are investigating a shooting at an apartment complex on Lakeshore Drive Friday morning, and say, right now, they don’t have any leads on who the shooter might be.

Investigators say they received a 911 call around 9:00 a.m. from someone who told them they had heard gunfire.  When officers arrived they say they couldn’t find a victim or a suspect but a search of one apartment revealed signs of struggle.

A little later, police heard about someone showing up at UK hospital who had been shot.  Police believe that person is likely involved in the shooting, but the victim is still receiving medical attention, and officers haven’t been able to talk to him.  Investigators hope once they can talk with him, they can find out what happened.

Police say they’re still talking with neighbors and checking surveillance cameras.  The apartment complex is just across the street from Henry Clay High School.  Officers say the school is on heightened alert.
