Georgetown Police arrest suspect after shooting critically injures man
GEORGETOWN, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Georgetown Police have arrested Brian Alexander Newman, 22, in connection with a shooting that left a man critically injured Tuesday night.
According to police, the shooting happened near the Amerson Orchard Apartments in Scott County. Officers responded to the area and began investigating immediately, asking residents to stay clear of the scene while they collected evidence.
The victim was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. No further details about his condition or the circumstances leading up to the shooting have been released.
Newman is charged with 1st Degree Assault.
His first appearance is scheduled for Thursday. He remains in the Scott County Detention Center.
Police say the investigation remains active.
