Police investigate connection in 2 deaths

PEMBROKE, Ky. (AP) – Police are investigating after two deaths were discovered in a western Kentucky community a few hours apart.

A statement from Kentucky State Police says the Christian County Sheriff’s Department responded Thursday morning to a report of a burnt vehicle with human remains inside.

Witnesses told police they heard noise coming from the area around 2 a.m. and the landowner found the vehicle in a field after daylight.

As part of the investigation, police traced the car tags to a residence in Pembroke. Upon entering, they found a dead man with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.

State police and the sheriff’s office are conducting a joint investigation into the circumstances of the deaths and how they are connected. Autopsies were planned on Friday.
