Police identify man killed at eastern Kentucky surface mine

PHELPS, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky State Police have identified a man who died after an accident at a surface mine in eastern Kentucky.

Police say 45-year-old Roy Mullins of the Mouthcard community in Pike County was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Mullins was pinned between a tractor-trailer and grader when the grader rolled back into the tractor as Mullins was trying to attach a chain.

The accident happened Thursday at Apex Mining in Phelps.

The incident is still being investigated.
