Police: Homeless being used to cash fraudulent checks
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police are investigating after two banks report people trying to cash bad checks.
According to police, two Central Bank locations in Lexington reported people coming in the cash third-party, fraudulent checks on Thursday.
Police say the people who cashed the checks were possibly homeless.
They believe a group from Georgia is coming to Lexington and recruiting the homeless to cash the checks.
They say the group will promise the homeless a cut of the money from the checks.
There have been no arrests in the case so far.
