Police: Caregiver Arrested For Forging Nearly $7,000 In Checks

A woman was arrested for forging nearly $7,000 dollars in checks from an 84-year-old woman, court documents said.

Karlen Jett, 50, was arrested and charged with exploitation of an adult, criminal possession of a forged instrument and tampering with physical evidence.

According to the arrest citation, Jett was working as a caregiver for the victim, who required the use of a wheelchair, when she forged $6,886.00 in checks.

When the woman found out about the forged checks, Jett took the copies and threw them away, police said.

Jett also admitted to stealing jewelry from the woman and selling it at a local pawn shop, court documents said.
