Police Arrest Suspected Metal Thief
Police have to kick in a door to get to a suspected metal thief overnight.
Police said a security guard confronted Lawrence Goodlet, II at the Central Baptist Hospital construction site on Nicholasville Road.
The guard told police Goodlet was loading stolen metal fencing in his truck.
They said Goodlet shoved the security guard then tried to drive away, nearly hitting him, a second guard and a patient who was walking in the roadway.
Police later located the truck at a home on Wilton Avenue, where they said Goodlet lives with his father.
Police said the truck was filled with what appeared to be stolen fencing.
Officials said he refused to come outside to talk to police. But when they hooked the vehicle to a tow truck, Goodlet came running out to stop them.
Police said when they tried to take him into custody, Goodlet ran back inside.
That’s when officials said they broke down the door and arrested him.
He is now charged with robbery and three counts of wanton endangerment.
