Police arrest man on assault, evidence tampering charges

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Police have charged a 19-year-old with assault and evidence tampering, after they say he attacked a man with a weapon and then tried to cover up the crime.

Police arrested Malcolm Carpenter Jr. on Tuesday.

According to police, he assaulted a man with a weapon and threatened to do more serious harm to him.

Police say Carpenter then broke into a home and tried to hide a gun.

It is not clear whether or not that gun is the weapon used in the assault.

Police say they found that gun on Carpenter when they arrested him.
