Police: $20,000 stolen from disabled adult

(LEXINGTON, Ky.) – Lexington Police say Glenn Wiley Stamper is arrested and charged for allegedly stealing more than $20,000 from a disabled adult that he was hired to help.

Police say Stamper, 32, was initially taken into custody on a parole violation, but court documents reveal he was later charged with other offenses including the exploitation of an adult and theft by deception.

The document says the victim suffers from multiple physical disabilities and therefore cannot make sound financial decisions.  Authorities say Stamper accepted financial payments from the victim for work that was not complete. According to investigators, Stamper collected money for tool rentals and supplies that were not made or purchased.

Stamper is lodged at the Fayette County Detention Center and is scheduled to answer to those charges in court at 1 p.m.
