Pipe bomb found at Henry County truck stop

PENDLETON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Kentucky State Police are trying to find out who stuck a pipe bomb in a trash can at a Henry County truck stop.

State Police say an employee at the Pilot Truck Stop at 205 Pendleton Road in Pendleton discovered what appeared to be a six-inch pipe bomb in a trash can outside the store around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Troopers were called to the scene to evacuate the building and block off the surrounding area as a safety precaution.

A Kentucky State Police Hazardous Device Unit was called in and rendered the bomb safe at 5:34 p.m. The truck stop was reopened for business at 6:12 p.m.

State Police say the device was collected and interviews were conducted with employees and witnesses. Surveillance footage was also collected.

Investigators say they currently have no suspects.
