Pike County jail locked down over suspicious substance
PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A piece of mail forced the Pike County Detention Center to go into lockdown Friday.
According to the jail, an employee was going through the mail and found an envelope containing a suspicious substance.
Believing the substance might be fentanyl, the jail went into lockdown and a HAZMAT crew was called in.
The employee who handled the envelope was taken to the hospital as a precaution, according to the jail.
Investigators determined the substance wasn’t dangerous and the lockdown was lifted.
