Phone Scam Reported In Laurel County
The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office warned people of a phone scam using two well-known names.
Investigators said a man with a heavy Eastern accent, who went by the name "James," called people claiming to be with the U.S. Postal Service.
He told callers that they had to pay a fee to have a certified package delivered to them from Publishers Clearinghouse, according to investigators.
Don’t fall for it. It’s a scam.
People told investigators the phone number that showed up on their caller ID was, 876-457-3087.
Authorities said if that number or a similar number showed up on your caller ID, don’t answer it.
