Phone Scam Reported In Laurel County

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office warned people of a phone scam using two well-known names.

Investigators said a man with a heavy Eastern accent, who went by the name "James," called people claiming to be with the U.S. Postal Service.

He told callers that they had to pay a fee to have a certified package delivered to them from Publishers Clearinghouse, according to investigators.

Don’t fall for it.  It’s a scam.

People told investigators the phone number that showed up on their caller ID was, 876-457-3087.

Authorities said if that number or a similar number showed up on your caller ID, don’t answer it.
