“Phat” tattoo leads police to suspect
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police say they have the person responsible for shooting another man in the groin during a botched drug-deal, and his face tattoo helped lead them to him.
Stephon Vanzant was arrested over the weekend for that shooting off Georgetown Street.
According to court documents, the victim agreed to meet Vanzant to buy marijuana on Friday.
But instead, he says Vanzant got into his car, pulled a gun and demanded his wallet and money.
The victm says he tried to get away, but Vanzant grabbed his pants’ pocket then shot him
Vanzant then got out and ran, according to court documents.
The victim managed to drive himself to the Shelll gas station on Newtown Pike and get the clerk inside to call police.
He was taken to the University of Kentucky where he underwent surgery.
Police say they were able to track down Vanzant not only because the victim knew him, but because he has “PHAT” tattooed on his face.
Vanzant is charged with robbery and possession of a controlled substance.
