Petition drive to get alcohol sales in Jessamine County falls short

JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Jessamine County voters will not be deciding in November to extend alcohol sales.

Alcohol sales are allowed in Nicholasville but areas in the county outside the city limits are dry.

A petition to get a measure on the November ballot asking whether alcohol sales should be allowed in areas of the county that are dry was being circulated.

Organizers of the petition had until 4 p.m. Tuesday to get enough signatures for the measure but, according to the Chamber of Commerce, they fell short by about 1,000 signatures.
