Pet raccoon caught red handed with meth pipe

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — A traffic stop in Ohio is gaining attention for an unusual passenger — a raccoon named Chewy, caught on police body cam holding a meth pipe.

According to Springfield Township Police, officers pulled over a 55-year-old woman who had an outstanding warrant and a suspended license. But what surprised them most was what was inside her vehicle: a pet raccoon.

Officers say the raccoon was sitting in the car when it grabbed one of the meth pipes found during the stop and held it up to its mouth — all caught on camera.

Authorities say the woman was detained without incident. Police say the raccoon, though uncharged, definitely caught their attention.

No word yet on the fate of Chewy — the raccoon who just might be the most unexpected part of this traffic stop.
