LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control is seeking the community’s assistance after a tragic incident at Jacobson Park on Friday where a dog was killed, and its owner attacked.
Deb Blair, who was visiting the dog park with her two dogs, recounted the event to ABC 36’s Walker Simmons. According to Blair, it was a relatively quiet day at the park when her smaller dog was suddenly attacked by a larger dog. Despite her efforts to save her pet, the smaller dog succumbed to its injuries. Blair herself was also attacked in the process.
In the rush to get her injured dog to the emergency vet, Blair did not get any information from the other dog’s owner.
“So I can get the other dog I was scared. ER didn’t get any information from him,” said Debbie Blair, the owner of the dog fatally attacked.
Blair is now appealing for help to find the owner of the dog that attacked hers. Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control has also made a public appeal for information on social media.
Blair emphasized that she wishes to speak with the other owner, not only for closure but also to ensure the attacking dog was treated for rabies, as she was bitten during the incident.
Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control is urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to come forward and contact their department.
