Person of interest named in Pulaski County murder
PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Authorities say they have a person of interest in the murder of an elderly Pulaski County man.
The body of 87-year-old Arlie Owens was found in his home in the Antioch area back on May 25.
Investigators say he was murdered.
Two days later, police responded to a report of a robbery at the Slate Branch Quick Mart and were given a description of the getaway vehicle, which they tied to 26-year-old David Strong.
The next day, deputies went to Strong’s home to speak to him and he ran off, firing shots at a deputy and another person, according to investigators.
Strong was taken into custody and his vehicle was searched.
Deputies say they discovered evidence in the vehicle that Strong had a storage unit.
They say evidence collected from the storage unit and the vehicle led them to name Strong as a person of interest in Owens’ death.
They say they also learned Strong installed flooring in Owens’ home at one point in time.
Strong is currently charged with two counts of attempted murder, including the attempted murder of a police officer.
He has not been charged with Owens’ murder.
