Person and dog rescued from lake in Laurel County

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A person and a dog are safe after a water rescue Saturday night in Laurel County.

According to the London-Laurel Rescue Squad, crews responded to a call off East City Dam Road after a dog entered the water.

Officials say a person jumped into the lake in an attempt to rescue the dog but was unable to get back out safely.

Rescue crews used rope equipment to reach both the person and the dog before bringing them to safety.

Authorities say both the individual and the dog were safely rescued.
