People react to Kentucky Derby disqualification

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ)- Saturday’s Kentucky Derby is one that will go down in history.

The horse that crossed the finish line first ended up being disqualified and that’s the first time this has ever happened in the derby’s 145 years.

After the disqualification was announced, people said the crowd at Churchill Downs was shocked, disappointed, and little bit confused.

Several people said after they watched the replay in slow motion they felt like it was the right call.

“It would be like if you were in a track meet and left your lane and all of sudden bounced everyone else out then came back again, that’s what it was,” said Michael Blowen, Founder/President of Old Friends Farm.

“I thought they made the right call. As heartbreaking and as tough as it was, I really thought they made the right call,” said Kathleen Hearne, Attendee.

Other people did not feel like it was the right call and many shared their opinions on Twitter, including President Trump.

President Trump said, “Only in these days of political correctness could such an overturn occur.”
