People protest against Donald Trump Presidency, chanting “Not My President”

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) At least 500 people gathered at the Courthouse Plaza all united under the phrase “Not my President.” Protesters hold signs that say things like “Love Trumps Hate” “Dump Trump” and “Black Lives Matter.” Like much of the polling, many people at the protest didn’t believe a Trump presidency was in the cards. They say they’re are offended by the some of the comments Trump has made along the campaign trail about women, Latinos, Muslims, and the LGBT community. They seem have a genuine fear about what America will become under a Trump presidency. The two sisters who organized the protest say most of all they’re worried about their mom and some of their family who are undocumented immigrants being sent back to Mexico under a Trump presidency.

Protest organizer Noemi Lara-Rojo says she held the protest, “More than anything for us to voice our anger and let him know we’re not going to support his agenda of deporting more than 11 million immigrants, we don’t stand for racism, sexism, transphobia, none of that.”

As of 7pm the protest has remained peaceful. The protesters plan to take off marching to Triangle Park and throughout downtown late into the night.
