Paying The Price To See The Cats

UK Athletics approved a ticket price increase for Men’s Basketball Tuesday…which prompted ABC 36 to take a look at some comparisons.

The increase is $5 across the board…with an increase in payment to the K Fund totaling between $110 to $455 depending on the donation level.

It’s almost alarming when comparing it to the NBA, where patrons pay an average $47 for a game.

It’ll cost you less to see Anthony Davis play for the New Orleans Hornets next season–about $30–than it did to see him at Rupp Arena this past year.

UK’s last price increase was $7 a ticket in 2010.

Solid Blue fans who paid $33 to see John Wall play must fork over $50 to see Nerlens Noel this season.

By comparison, the last SEC school to win a national championship prior to UK–the Florida Gators–ask $20 for reserved seats.

But for those who can’t afford to see their Cats live, every single game will be televised…which was not the case before 2006.
