Paul Laurence Dunbar student arrested for reportedly bringing gun to school

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A student at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School has been arrested after he reportedly brought a gun and ammunition to the school.

According to a release from Fayette Co. Public Schools says officials discovered the weapon just before class dismissed for the day.  They say the gun was not loaded, but the student did bring ammunition in his backpack.

The student has been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on school property.  A spokesperson with FCPS says the student will face stiff administrative penalties, and may also face legal consequences through the juvenile court system.
