Patterson Hall re-dedicated, residence halls renamed
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – One of University of Kentucky’s most iconic and historic buildings now has a new look.
UK President Eli Capilouto attended the re-dedication of Patterson Hall on Monday. The building, which opened in 1904, was the first UK residence hall for women.
After a renovation, the building will now be used for classrooms, reception spaces, and for the “Living Learning Program.”
Four north campus residence halls were also renamed at the event, and will now bear the names of four pioneering women who lived in the original Patterson Hall. Champions Court I has been named Frances Jewell Hall, Champions Court II has been named Georgia M. Blazer Hall, Limestone Park I has been named Sarah Bennett Holmes Hall, and Limestone Park II has been named Cleona Belle Matthews Boyd Hall.
