Partners for Youth grassroots grant program accepting applications

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Partners for Youth is currently accepting applications for its grassroots grants program. These grants award money to programs in Fayette County that provide positive youth programming opportunities to young people. It is designed to assist small, hands-on grassroots programs who aid an underserved population and is not a source for large grants. Grants typically range from $750 – $3,000.

Applications can be downloaded at www.partners4youth.org. The proposal must be typed and emailed to lhatfield@lexingtonky.gov by 5 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016. Only one proposal per organization may be submitted.

A technical assistance meeting for those individuals who need help filing out the paperwork or who have questions about the process will take place from 4 – 5 p.m., Monday, Jan. 11. Individuals should call 258-3119 to reserve a seat. (Location will be provided upon registration.)

In addition to the application, eligible applicants are required to meet with members of the Partners for Youth Grassroots Allocation Review Committee to discuss the proposal. Meetings will be scheduled in late Feb. or early March and failure to attend will result in elimination from 2016 funding.

Selection will be determined by the grant review committee, the Grassroots Committee and the Partners for Youth Board of Directors. Additional points will be rewarded to programs who attend the technical assistance training on Jan. 11, programs that take place during “out of school time” (i.e., summer, weekends and after school) and programs that have not received funding in the past. Please Note: A specific program cannot be awarded grant funds with both Partners for Youth and LFUCG Social Services ESR funds for the same program.
