Part of DeRoode Street and adjoining areas to close Thursday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Part of DeRoode Street and adjoining areas in Lexington are scheduled to be closed Thursday, March 3, 2016, beginning at 7:00 a.m., according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. The state says the closures are necessary as demolition will begin on empty buildings. The closures will remain in place until further notice, according to the state.

Here are the closures:

-DeRoode Street from Patterson Street to South Broadway
-The sidewalk on South Broadway between DeRoode Street and Chair Avenue
-A portion of the sidewalk on Chair Avenue

This work is part of the Newtown Pike extension project that is scheduled to be completed by August 1, 2017.
