Part of I-24 in Lyon County will honor fallen trooper
HICKORY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The state says part of I-24 in Lyon County will be dedicated to a fallen trooper.
It says I-24 from the Caldwell County line to its intersection with Kentucky Route 293 will be designated as the “Trooper Joseph Cameron Ponder Memorial Highway.”
Investigators say Ponder was shot and killed in 2015 during a traffic stop.
The state says a dedication ceremony will be held this Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. CST at the Lyon Convention Center at Lee S. Jones Park in Eddyville, KY. The community is invited to attend.
