Park Plaza Owners Apologize After Concert-Goers Denied Shelter
Here’s a statement from Park Plaza owners, Anderson Communities after they reported employees at the downtown Lexington complex denied shelter to concert-goers during Friday’s strong storms:
“It has come to our attention that a number of attendees of the Phoenix Fridays concert may have received less than hospitable treatment from Park Plaza Apartments staff when a particularly strong storm moved through the downtown area on the evening of August 22nd
First we would like the public to know that our company does not endorse the decisions or actions taken by our staff at that time, and that staff at Park Plaza and other Anderson Communities properties will soon receive specific policy guidelines concerning citizens who seek temporary shelter from weather conditions that pose an immediate risk to health and safety, so that incidents like this do not recur.
Additionally, those who can attest that they are among those (or are the guardian of a minor) who were personally denied shelter at the Park Plaza Apartments between 7:00 and 9:00 PM on August 22nd, Anderson Communities will donate $100 per person to the charity of their choice. Those wanting to take advantage of this offer can contact Chris Wray at chris@andersoncommunities.com or 859-271-4663. This offer will expire at midnight, August 31, 2014.
Anderson Communities has had a demonstrated commitment to strengthening the communities of central Kentucky for over two decades, and wants the public to understand that the events of August 22nd are not representative of how we regard our fellow Kentuckians.”
