Paducah seeks to have City Hall named as historic place
PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) – Paducah city leaders are seeking to have City Hall be on the National Park Service’s National Register of Historic Places, a designation that could enable the city to receive historic tax credits for costly repairs to the building.
The city announced in a news release earlier this week that staff will seek to place the building on the national list based on the building’s design, architecture and construction.
If the nomination goes through, the city could apply for state tax credits to help fund the planned $18 million renovation of the 51-year-old building.
Paducah Main Street Director Melinda Winchester tells the Paducah Sun (http://bit.ly/20JzB75 ) that the city’s application must be approved by the Kentucky Heritage Council before coming before the National Park Service.
