Owsley County school employee diagnosed with hepatitis A

OWSLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Owsley County Board of Education has notified parents that an employee at a school has been diagnosed with hepatitis A.

The school board says on its Facebook the employee works at Owsley County High School and has minimal contact with students.

The district says there is a very low chance of transmission to other students or employees.

It also says cleaning procedures were already stepped up as a result of seasonal illness and that the facilities were thoroughly cleaned as recommended by the Center for Disease Control.

Students are required to have the hepatitis A vaccine according to Kentucky state law.
