Overnight Chimney Fire Serves As A Warning To All
A family had to evacuate their home after a fire in their fireplace spread to the chimney.
It happened around 11 Monday night on Woodlawn Way in Lexington.
Officials say the family was trying to start a fire in the fireplace when the chimney caught fire. Officials on scene speculated that the blaze may have been caused by a build up of creosote in the chimney.
With many people using their fireplaces over the holidays, officials recommend you get your chimney cleared of creosote build-up before starting a fire.
The family in this case was able to exit the home with no injuries.
