Over 100 clean needles distributed in needle-exchange program

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – This is the second week for a needle-exchange program for heroin users in Lexington.

According to the Lexington-Fayette Co. Health Department, nine people participated in the program last Friday.  Workers say they received 259 used needles and gave out 170 clean needles on the first day of their needle-exchange program.

The free program is available every Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 650 Newtown Pike.  Participants can remain anonymous.  The only requirement  is to bring in dirty needles to be exchanged for clean ones.
