Outdoor warning siren test scheduled in Lexington for Sept. 8

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A test of Lexington Emergency Management’s outdoor warning sirens is set for Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 10 a.m.

Residents who live near a park or golf course should expect to hear a series of chimes followed by a voice announcement saying, “This is a test.”

There is no emergency. This will be a regularly scheduled test for testing purposes only. Residents are asked to please not call 911 regarding the siren test.

Lexington’s outdoor siren system is meant to alert those who are outdoors. It is not intended to alert those who are inside homes, apartments or office buildings.
