Outbound Newtown Pike reopens after wreck at Iron Works
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Traffic Management is reporting that police have cleared the scene of a single-vehicle wreck that shut down the outbound lane of Newtown Pike and sent one person to the hospital on Monday.
Police say the crash happened when a woman traveling inbound on Newtown Pike swerved to avoid a raccoon on the road.
The driver ended up hitting a utility pole that fell, bringing down power lines with it.
The woman was taken to UK Hospital with minor injuries, according to officers.
5 houses along the road lost power due to the accident.
According to Traffic Management, KU workers are still on the scene. Drivers in the area are advised to use caution.
