Operation Christmas Child at First Baptist Church
Doug: A Winchester church is making Christmas a little brighter for children all over the world. First Baptist Church is the central drop off location for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. OCC, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, has delivered gift-filled shoeboxes to over 146 million children in more than 100 countries.
Speaker 2: The mission is to deliver these shoeboxes to children who may never have received a gift in their whole entire life.
Doug: Last week the church held their annual packing party where church members gathered together to pack the boxes with supplies and spiritual information.
Speaker 3: First Baptist mission is to reach people locally and to touch children across the world, so Operation Christmas Child was just a nice fit for the church to participate in.
Doug: First Baptist received a visit from an OCC shoe box recipient as well as a video of children thanking them for the boxes they had received.
Speaker 2: Last year through First Baptist Church we sent out 10,554 shoeboxes that actually left our church and went to Boone, North Carolina which is the processing center before they go to over 150 countries around the world. This year our goal is to deliver 11,300.
Doug: Shoeboxes can be dropped off at the church from now until Monday, November 19th. A full list of times can be found on our website at wtvq.com.
