Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, collects shoebox gifts-filled with school supplies, hygiene items, and fun toys – and delivers them to children in need around the world to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way. For many of these children, the gift-filled shoebox is the first gift they have ever received.
In 2018, Operation Christmas, the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind, hopes to collect enough shoebox gifts to reach another 11 million children in more than 100 countries. For Kentucky, Operation Christmas Child has a goal for 250,000 shoeboxes gifts, with the Lexington area goal to collect over 20,000 shoeboxes for National Collection Week on November 12th through November 19th.
