Online campaign to benefit Transylvania University Library

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Hollywood is helping Transylvania University benefit from an infamous heist that took place at the school’s library.

The movie “American Animals” is loosely based on the story of four Lexington men who stole rare books and works of art from the Transylvania University Library.

They were caught after they tried to sell the items at Christie’s Auction House.

The group that made the film is now raising money for the university through an Omaze campaign.

Donations will go toward Transylvania University Library’s Special Collections.

One donor will be selected to fly to New York City for the red carpet premiere of the movie, meet the cast, celebrate at the official after-party and stay in a 4-star hotel.
