One person hospitalized after Lake Cumberland boating accident
RUSSELL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Four boaters were forced to swim to shore after a boating accident on Lake Cumberland Thursday evening, with one person being airlifted to a hospital for treatment.
According to Russell County Search and Rescue, they were called around 8:30 p.m. to respond to a sinking boat near Campbell’s Landing Boat Ramp. The boat had sustained significant damage from the accident.
All four boaters, who were wearing life jackets, were swimming to shore when the search and rescue team arrived. One individual was flown to the University of Kentucky Hospital with head and hand injuries, while the others sustained only minor injuries.
The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
