One person airlifted after Somerset structure fire on Speedway Drive

SOMERSET, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Firefighters say quick action likely saved a life after a structure fire broke out Monday in the 200 block of Speedway Drive.

Somerset Fire crews arrived to find heavy black smoke coming from the back of the building. A person trapped inside was pulled from the rear of the structure and treated on scene before being airlifted to Louisville for further medical care.

The blaze was brought under control quickly, limiting damage to the building. Ferguson Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene, while Somerset Police and fire investigators are now working to pinpoint what sparked the fire.
