One more inmate COVID case in Fayette jail since last week
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – After a brief spike one day last week, the number of new coronavirus cases in the Fayette County Detention Center has again stabilized.
According to a report from Capt. Matt Lemonds of the Lexington Division of Community Corrections, the jail has had one additional inmate test positive for the virus since last week, pushing the total since early August to 100 inmates.
According to LeMods’ report, as of Monday night, the jail had:
- 100 inmates have tested positive for COVID-19
- 773 have tested negative
- results are pending on 2 inmates
- 875 inmates have been tested so far
- 11 staff members have tested positive
- 139 staff members have tested negative
- results are pending for 1 staff member
- 151 staff members have been tested so far
Community Corrections continues to work with the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department for guidance and direction for the testing of additional inmates and staff.
