One Lexington expanding scholarship program

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Some high school seniors in Lexington will receive a boost in paying for college expenses. City officials joined One Lexington on Monday to announce the expansion of their scholarship program, thanks to a $500,000 award from Governor Andy Beshear.

The funds will provide $10,000 scholarships for seniors of color in the upcoming school years. One Lexington plans to offer two scholarships at six different schools in the Fayette County district, along with one scholarship at each of the district’s non-traditional high schools.

This expansion aims to support high school students in affording college, helping to bridge the financial gap and promote educational opportunities for students of color.
