One killed in fire in Rowan County

CLEARFIELD, Ky. (WTVQ) – An early-morning fire in Rowan County has left one man dead and a woman injured.

Rowan County Coroner John Northcutt says the call came in about a fire at a mobile home on McBrayer Road at 1:18 a.m. Thursday.

He says a woman in the home managed to escape. She was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

After crews from the Morehead Fire Department put out the fire, they discovered the body of a man.

Northcutt says the victim’s body will be taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for and autopsy and to get a positive identification.

There is no word yet on the cause of the fire.
